Best-known for its tender and sublime Adagietto movement, Mahler's Fifth Symphony is a work that spans the full gamut of emotions. From the chilling lone trumpet opening of the work through to its joyous finale the music is an engaging and electrifying journey. 'The symphony should be like the world,' said Mahler.

Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto is one of the foremost concertos of the Romantic repertoire, lyrical and elegiac in the first two movements, spectacular and brilliant in the finale.

Joining us as soloist is Tamsin Waley-Cohen, noted for her 'radiant and soaring' playing. She has performed with the Royal Philharmonic, London Philharmonic and BBC orchestras and she is currently a recipient of the European Concert Hall Organisation Rising Stars Awards.
